The Social Place Online Mission

The Social Place Online has been created to offer a familiar alternative to Facebook, Meta's main product.

This platform is meant to be a tool for connecting with others. A place to stay in touch with family, friends and those who share your interests. A place to learn and explore new interests by meeting people who may otherwise be outside your regular sphere.

It's meant to be a place where people of different viewpoints can co exist, either side by side or in mutual spaces. 

As such the platform itself is largely non partisan in relation to politics or religion. We encourage folks to use the ability to set privacy levels to their comfort level, to create private groups as they choose and to block and report any who may go to far beyond debate in harmful actions. We will strive to be both clear and fair in any resulting actions taken by the platform in the last instance.

The Social Place Online believes and encourages an accepting outlook of all people no matter what race, sex, gender, religion, age, orientation or ability. 

As such this we will deal with hate speech definitively and as quickly as possible. IT IS NOT WELCOME HERE.

The Social Place Online is meant to be a place that shares factual information. As such we encourage our users to research stories before posting, to verify sources before reading something posted on the internet and to remember that our emotional response to an action or a story is not proof or a basis for belief.

The Social Place Online is at this time a strictly volunteer staffed project. It was never created to be a money making model. We would love to be able to cover the costs of hosting and software used to create and maintain the site via donations but will do our best to keep it running with out that. We may, if there is an interest from our users offer subscription based services but currently there are no plans for that at this time (Jan 2025)

As such you won't find advertising on our site. We won't be selling ad space to any businesses or organizations. You won't see "Sponsered" posts in your feed.

The Social Place Online believes that YOU are the one in control of your content and how you wish it to be presented to you.

As such we won't add you to someone's follow list automatically, skew content based on your usage etc.

The Social Place Online does use cookies when you click the "Remember Me" button at log in, to keep you logged into the site. We work with your browser to cache images and remember where you've visited to help keep the site and your computer working their best.

The Social Place Online will NEVER SELL YOUR INFO or share it with 3rd parties. We will act in accordance with WA State or Federal law in regards to any subpeana information served to us.
